    Military Training Act

    The Military Training Act came into effect which meant that all men had to join the Army, Royal Navy or RAF on reaching the age of 20.

    Those men affected by this act had the right to chose which service they wished to join.

    The Military Training Act involved six months full time service , with 3 1/2 years on the Reserve list with liability for annual training.

    Due to the outbreak of World War 2 the National Service Act came into effect on 6 Sept 1939 the Military Training Act was cancelled.
